Starting Second Semester Strong
We are so happy to welcome our members back on campus for another exciting semester! The first weekend back, 20 of our members gave up their Saturday for a 12-hour engineering competition on campus. Hackathon, sponsored by Direct Supply, challenges students to target a problem facing the senior citizen population and design as well as market a solution to present at the end of the day. Solutions ranged from a grip designed for individuals with arthritis to a hammock to aid in changing bed sheets. The creativity and enthusiasm were infectious, and we are proud of our member's hard work!
This past week we were lucky enough to host a FLL team, The St. Peter’s Brickbusters, to tour the engineering building as well as break into small groups with some of our members. Together, members and these bright middle school students brainstormed ideas for their research project and were also exposed to the engineering design process.
At our next meeting, we are looking forward to hearing from one of our E-board members, Efrain Torres, as he discusses his research on the cerebellum. Join us Wednesday February 1st at 8pm in Engineering Hall 236 to find out more!
