Design Challenge!

BMES hosted 42 High School students from the YES Organization and the Messmer Schools at our Second Annual Design Challenge on Friday, April 20th. The all-day event was aimed at teaching the students more about STEM. This events entailed challenging the students to brainstorm, design, and create a toy to teach a younger child about a STEM Concept. The morning events, including welcomes from Dr. Ropella and Kelsey Otero and the 707 Hub Staff, as well as a brainstorming activity, was hosted in the 707 Hub. The afternoon events of design and prototyping were held in the AMU after lunch. The groups and their toys were judged, and the winning group was awarded scholarships to Marquette's RISE Summer Program through Marquette Engineering Outreach. Big thank you to the YES Organization and the Messmer Schools for bringing students to our event. Also, special thank you to all the volunteers, faculty, and industry representatives who made the day so successful by helping us plan the events, interacting with the students, and helping them develop their ideas. Finally, thank you to Siemens Healthineers for sponsoring the event and helping us create such a successful event!
